I am fascinated with how people change and don't change, physically as well as intellectually and emotionally. In the early 1980s I began to ask some of my friends to find a photograph from when they were 12-14 years of age. I copied these photographs, then make a portrait of the person, now in their 40s, that was in the same general manner as the earlier portrait. Now, almost a decade later, I have been getting back in touch with some of them and making a current portrait to combine with the earlier two.
Also in this gallery are some current experiments with "montaged" portraits that feature different perspectives of the same person. My inspiration for this has been Nabil Boutros, an Egyptian photographer who used this approach primarily for studies of places, spaces and events.
